Re: Some Hospitals in NJ not hiring LPNs ?
I'm not sure how accurate this is, but I had heard for a while that many hospitals (nationally, not only in NJ) are "phasing out" the hiring of LPN's, and that LPN schools themselves are becoming scarcer. I had clinicals in many different hospital settings, and the only LPN i ever came across had been on that floor for 15 + years. I think LPN's these days are having an easier time finding employment in LTC and dr's offices. I graduated from RN school in May, and my program had an LPN- RN program built in, the LPN's who graduated as RN's had a much easier time finding jobs as RN's and were hired much faster than those of us who weren't LPN's, due to their years of experience.
