hey
do you know what is happening in the state where i live(NJ). None of the hospital is hiring RNs they want only experienced RNs. eversince i graduated year and half ago i worked in LTC. did not do any IVs or trach care, all i did is pass meds and gave injections, because none of our paitents needed all those things or neigther one of my patients had major wound so i did not learn more in that area also. now what is happening where i work is they are hiring more LPNS AND THEY ARE CUTTING DOWN ON RNs. i lost one job because of that and i have prn job right now i work only 16 hours a week. other palces where i call they want RNs to be supervisor which i dont think i have experience to do that. i am feeling down i feel like i should just went to LPN school. i have interview with county, but they pay $20,000 less and also all you do is work in clinic. do you guys think i will loose my nursing skills if i work their?i am stuck right now. should i keep reading to update my skills? does anybody know courses offered in NJ for Rns to referesh their skills? First of all nothing against LPNs but the place where i worked for, cut down my hours totally and they have four LPNS that i know they are always on the phone, just signing meds not giveing them, coming late to work and sometimes an hour late, not doing treatments ever and sign for it and DON knows about it and they are keeping those employees and i asked why to one my staffing scheduler she said they have to pay LPns less that is why. what about those patient who are not getting meds and did i make any mistake that i went to Rn school?
