Nurse's Assistant?

Hi everyone,
Im currently a nursing student just finishing up my 1st semester. I just recently applied to a job and got a call back for an interview! It's a position as a Nurse's Assistant...(I can't do much without a degree unfortunately) which basically means I'm under the direction of an RN as well as LPN.

I'm just curious... the department I would be in is called the PCU. I assumed it was Psychiatric or Pediatric unit. Wrong. It's called the Progressive Care Unit and I was told it was a step-down from an ICU. Can someone explain this to me? As I was also told from other people it was almost like Telemetry..Also what do you think this job consists of? considering it was an overnight shift I would be on. I will have all these questions answered during the interview of course but it would be nice to have some answered beforehand to ease my mind. Thanks!!

Default Re: Nurse's Assistant?
At the hospital I work at (which is in GA) the PCU is referred to as the ICCU (Intermediate Cardiac Care Unit). It's mostly patients who are waiting for their EKG to stablize after having a CABG. The work isn't too bad there. And on night shift, we usually only have one assistant working. Mostly you will be answering call lights, taking vitals, emptying foleys and helping pts to the bathroom.
