NJSNA Nursing E-NEWS

A New Jersey State Nurses Association Member Service

Monday, 9/18/06 was a historic day! For the first time, after many, many years of lobbying, sound evidence and a strong coalition of people working together...a syringe access bill was voted out of the senate health committee. The hearings lasted almost ten hours ending shortly before 8PM.

In order to get the votes needed amendments were made which would limit the number of exchanges in New Jersey to six municipalities. The Commissioner of Health and Senior Services will now conduct a review and make recommendations on continuing the programs after four years. We will post more information as it is available on the NJSNA website.
