License Number in NJ

I just passed the NCLEX and I'm anxiously awaiting a license number to appear on the BON website so I can add it to job applications... Anyone know how often they update it (last was July 9th it says). Or if I call, will they give it to me?

It takes forever to appear on the website, or at least it did for me. I passed in February and it wasnt on there until April. I got the letter way before, hope this helps.

Before July 9th, it was last updated on June 2nd. (I know this because I just passed in June and was checking several times a day hoping for an update!!) Anyway, I got my letter from the state approximately one week after I passed with my license number, etc., and about a week after that I got my actual license in the mail. Hope this helps. Congratulations!

I took NCLEX on July 6, found out I passed July 8, and JUST yesterday (July 23) got a letter in the mail saying my license is on its way. They only update the site once a month, which is ridiculously slow - my friends from school got licensed in PA and their license info was posted on the PA BON site the morning after they took the NCLEX - less than 24 hrs after! The license number was up before Pearson VUE even made it available for them!

I called and got my license number about 9 days after taking the test. However, I still haven't received my letter (should be on the way) and that's still not my actual license!! Grr its annoying bc I am alost all signed up with an agency and can't start till they have a copy of my license, not just the number. I need to work!!!! And yes, most of my friends from NJ got PA licenses instead. So, I feel alone in all this!

Patience, girl! I got my letter about 2 weeks after passing the boards then my license in the mail about 3 weeks after that. NJ is notoriously slooooow but you'll have your license in no time. The BON license listing takes even longer to update but your employer can verify your license through an automated telephone system most employers use.

Welcome to nursing, JerseyGir1!!

Hi. I took and passed the NCLEX over 2 weeks ago, and I was wondering: what department of the New Jersey BON did you contact when you got your license number over the phone 9 days after taking the test? Was it the general operator? I'm asking because I still haven't heard anything from the BON, and I also saw that New Jersey only updates their website once a month. Thanks.

Hi, JerseyGir1. I got your PM message, but it won't let me PM you back for some reason. I wanted to thank you for your response and congratulate you on becoming a nurse.
