Kimball medical center?

Hi NJ nurses!

I am a foreign nurse from the Philippines. I've recently been offered a job by an agency here. They told me that I would be working in either Kimball Medical Center or Monmouth Medical Center. Are these two hospitals in existence? Are these good hospitals to work in?

They claimed that I will be working in a LTACHS ( Long term acute care hospitals).

Any information related to my inquiry would be much appreciated.

Both MM and Kimball are busy hospitals. They have a pretty good reputation and pay decently from what I've heard. As far as a LTAC hospital, they might send you to an offsite freestanding LTAC affiliated with the hospital, unless they have that type of unit within the hospital.

I've worked at Kimball and Community and know lots of people that work at Monmouth. They aren't bad to work for. LTAC is interesting, at Kimball it occupies a floor of the hospital itself. Primarily a long-term vent unit.

Good luck and welcome! We probably know lots of the same people.

I was offered a job at the LTAC in Kimball at the same time I was offered my present job in acute rehab. I chose acute rehab because it was 5 minutes from my house but the LTAC looked interesting and they were paying exactly the same. At that time (2006) they were both paying 28/hr and thats with 8yr experience at the time. The LTAC seemed like it would be a cool place to work where you could really learn alot and I always wonder how it would have been. I still might look into it. They have resp there all the time looking after the vents. An NP and the MDs are always around. You get like 4patients. The facility is a seperate hospital within Kimball medical center. My first impression was that it was a little dingy and outdated. I am not saying it was totally ghetto, just not nice and shiny and new.
