I definetly think it will be a great experience for you and will help so much with clinicals. You will become so much more comfortable with your patient interactions. You will also learn more about the nurse's role and get a more accurate perception of nursing than you do in clinical. I know your medsurg clincal will be coming up in the next year, and already having clinical experience and extra confidence will help you soooo much!

Congrats on the opportunity....
I am starting my pre-req in the fall and was trying to think of a good job while I am in school that would be flexible with the hours. Does the hospital allow for a flexible schedule while you are in school? And if you don't mind me asking, how is the pay? It seems like a great way to become familiar with nursing and gain alot of experience.
Good luck to you!

Thank you for getting back to me...that sounds great. I have one more question if you don't mind...do you need to be certified first, or do they train you?

Hi Chinita,

Can you pm me your email? I can't pm you until I have at least 15 posts. I am interested in becoming a nurse assistant at humc. I will be starting my prerequesites this year so I can start the bsn nursing program at njcu in Sept 2009. I have been wondering about this and I thought you had to be certified. Thanks.
