Jersey Shore University Medical Center or Community medical center?

by Natik79

Hi everyone
I 'm New Grad RN in Central Jersey. After 2.5 mo job search I received 2 job offers at the same time. Offers were from Jersey Shore University Medical Center and Community medical Center. Both day time positions and Telemetry units. Does anyone know where is better new grad orientation? Witch is the better place to work? Any info will be greatly appreciated.
Natik

I worked Tele at Riverview (sister hospital) and really liked the nurse-positive attitude that they had, as well as actually EARNING their Magnet status. I can't speak to either of your facilities orientation, but can speak positively of the Meridian hospitals. Lucky you to grab two days positions!!

Thank you so much for you comment. I'm definitely leaning towards Meridian now , especially its closer to home.

P.S. Working with babies must be a lots of fun for you! I've tried to get into pediatrics too, but its very hard to find an opening, especially for New Grad

Go to Jersey Shore. After that, you can get a job anywhere. I worked there and loved it. Left because of lack of opportunity for LPN's but definately want to go back after I get my RN. Working on a Tele floor at Jersey Shore will give you the experience to go anywhere in nursing you want to go. It's the best.

I guess I have a different opinion than most people on this thread. I did my clinical in both meridian and st barnabas facilities. I currently work in a Meridian facility but have worked for a St Barn. facility in the past. On a tele floor at Meridian you will have up to 8 pt. The most I ever had at Community during my preceptoring was 5. Meridian tends to abuse their nurses.

I would go with Jersey Shore.

I've been at both for clinical and really liked Jersey Shore.

Several people I know work there too and like it.

Let us know what you decide!

Thumbs up Re: Jersey Shore University Medical Center or Community medical center?
You lucky duck!

I would agree with everyone else. Meridian has an outstanding reputation. I have a friend who was just laid off at St. Barnabas Community Medical Center and there are rumors that they might be selling Kimball.
