Hospital Hiring Process

by Caitwxo

I'm sure i'm not the only one here in this situation, but I've been putting in numerous applications into hospitals around my area, as well as some further away (I live in the Edison area) and still, I haven't recieved any call backs. I got some advice from one of my old teachers saying that the more apps you have in, the better chances you have of getting a call back. So I tried that, applying for the same position like 10 times, but still nothing. I also went over to RWJUH-New Brunswick, and they told me that it's usually two weeks before they get through all of the applications, then they call qualified candidates. I was just wondering, what is the best way to go about this? After putting in an application, I know it's always a plus to go in to HR for a follow up, but most likey, the hospital just tells you "We'll give you a call". By the way, i've applied to RWJUH NB, Rahway, Hamilton, JFK, Somerset Medical Center, RBMC. Any advive? Thanks!

Default Re: Hospital Hiring Process
I live in Burlington county and i know the Burlington/Mercer county areas have more nurses than jobs right now. Our hospital has a very low opening rate and has been like this for a couple years now but schools are cranking out nurses faster than ever. With the economy slowing down nurses just aren't retiring all that fast because of all they've lost in their 401K's they're working later and later in life. Plus right now there is an influx of new grads and what I tell students is to get your foot in the door of a hospital while you're a student. Then you have a better chance at a nursing job once you graduate. Whether it be as a nurses aid, unit secretary, intern/extern, whatever.
