Hospice nursing

I have a question. I am not yet graduated, but I am in a BSN program. My goal is to work hospice, but I am also interested in working LTC. I know a lot of nurses do not want to work these areas, but that is where my heart is. What is the outlook in these areas for a newly graduated nurse? I am 43, and have never worked in the health care field, at least not with people. lol I have been a vet assistant. Should hiring be easier as I want to work areas that others do not seem to want as much? Anyone with experience in these areas would sure help me out. I have two more years to go, and am thinking about trying to get on at nursing home next year while I finish school. Thank you in advance for your time

Default Re: Hospice nursing
I can't speak specifically to either LTC or Hospice, but it can NEVER hurt to get a job in the area you're interested in and start getting some experience. From my experience, working as an aid/tech somewhere can really give you a better chance as being hired on as an RN after graduation.
