Has anyone gone there? I am meeting with them on Monday. They do medical assisting first which is a 12 mon course and then you go off to Caldwell. I think this is what she said. I just spoke with her and put an application in and Im going Mon. Anyone go there?

So how'd that meeting with Gibbs go?

The Gibbs Medical Assistant program is most definitely not a pre-req to any nursing school and Caldwell College doesn't have any type of nursing program. I was kinda wondering why you would want to take such a circuituous route toward becoming an RN. In the amount of time it would take to do all of that, you could complete an ADN or diploma program and sit for the NCLEX.

I went to gibbs for medical assistant. Dont do it !!! It costs a lot of money and your better off going for your lpn. i am in the process now through the vo-tech system which is 15 months and only 4,000 dollars. this is after i could not find a good paying job as a medical assistant & 15,000 in student loans.

Those vocational schools charge and arm and a leg and their courses often don't transfer. Please, please be very careful of these businesses....

They are salespeople -- period. You want to go to an accredited community college or university in your area and do this right the first time. The folks at those voc ed schools will tell you anything to sell you. They're on a caliber of used car salesmen!! UGH!!!

I went to gibbs for computers, it was a waste of money, a lot of money at that. I'm happy to see you did not go there. I would never recommend the school for anything!.
Good luck

Congratulations! It is not that easy to find Medical Assistant jobs, especially since hospitals have different names for them. I have been one for about 4 years now. I did the CNA course (because it is required for the RN program that I will be starting this fall) and it is very easy to get jobs AND at decent pay, some at the same rate that I get as a MA. Good for you.
