Deadline for license/NCLEX?

by luv2yoga Premium Member

Hi, I am attending an out-of-state school, set to graduate in May. I will move to NJ after that and want to get licensed in NJ. I have downloaded the forms but there is no DEADLINE date anywhere on them. Can someone please tell me when that is?
Thanks!

There doesn't seem to be a deadline so to speak...however...a former student in the hospital where I do my clinicals suggested I apply and send in the form to the NJSTATE BOARD by the middle of the semester or I'd wait longer once I graduate...She learned this the hard way! There is also fine print somewhere suggesting this which I read...our school did/does not inform us of this either!!!! That way when you graduate the forms will be "in order" with the board and when your transript is sent they wont have to dig around or do nothing(if it hasn't been filed yet, which students do-they wait until the end and then wait for weeks)
I suggest you do it now... Hope this helps! Good luck

BTW-I'm adding this: you have to have all those NJ Licence Board forms in first/filed/the schools transcripts there too before they will give you an NCLEX date. I dont believe theres a deadline for Nclex, you can take it all over the state anytime it seems...I am also graduating in May and sent this stuff in the middle of Feb to cover my "3ss" after the other student told me this...she was one who waited until after graduating mid Dec as an RN and was end of Jan still a PCA waiting for the Board Licencsure papers to go through so she could scedule NCLEX!!!! It is March 20th and she was still there a week ago as an aide on the floor...dont know what the story is with that....

this probably had more to do with the official january graduation date of people who finish in december, and the school's office being unable to send out letters of eligibility until that point. my class finished in december but didn't receive ATT #s until februrary, a couple days after the BON received our letters of eligibility. many people then scheduled for march, it's not unheard of.
