Cooper Hospital Pay Question?

I Am Soo Excited! I Have An Interview With Cooper Univ. In 2 Weeks And Am Very Excited! Can Anyone Tell Me What Their Starting New Rn Rate Is? I'm Trying To Decide Between Virtua Marlton, Lourdes Willingboro, And Cooper? Thanks For Any Advise You Can Give!

Well I can tell you that at ...

Virtua it is $20 if you have not passed your boards then $23

Lourdes in Willingboro starts at $23.75 after 3p there is a $2.62 diff and weekends has a $2 diff - but I read that there is something going on with the union possibly being taken out so the rate may change.

I never interviewed at Cooper so I dont know that one sorry

ETA - I believe Kennedy has a $3k sign on bonus and I think the starting is $23

Thee-Thee,

How did your interview go with Cooper? I have seriously been considering Cooper. Could you also provide the starting grad rn rate?

Thanks!

Hi Nurse Nicole,

Just wondering why you left Cooper after 6 months. I am currently a nursing student at Helene Fuld. I won't graduate until 2008 (ugh!), but I was just wondering what your experience was like working at Cooper.

I'm asking, because I am actually intereted in possibly working at Cooper upon graduation.

Thanks!!! And Congrats on the position at Virtua!!

i left cooper because they of their proffesionalism.....believe me its a good hospital with great nurses and its crazy busy and you learn alot!! but i started there in august since i failed my boards my june start dat was pushed back to august until i passed boards which i did....i found a tumor in breast in late june after i failed boards and had it removed to find it was benign,......in aug on nights ( that is usally all they offer new grads u wait 1 yr for days) i started and then in november i found another lump my doc were hopeful again but i had to have surgery right away to remove it and needed time off to recooperate . i worked on an oncology floor and i thought they'd understand the scariness to this situation i fought tooth and nail for the time off to have surgery and recover......i did have surgery and when i came back being on a cancerfloor after two scares myself was too much i began having panic attacks both at work and at home and i went to management to ask for a position transfer to basic med surg flloor without oncology.....they refused i tried to stick it out till i had a panic attack at home which led me to the er.......i then went to my docotor who pulled me from work until we could get me on antianxiety medications at a level to control my attacks....he next morning i was fired and my benifits cut......i went to my union i knew i was being mistreated.......1 week later i recievedan apology and the green light to reaaply to any floor with the promise of rehiring. i said no thaank you. i took a position for day shift not nightsat virtua memorial on the infectious disease floor ....i have never been happier or felt more fulfilled like i do there......i know everything happens for a reason and im glad it did........i dont down cooper i down management and how they treated one of their own when i needed them most.

Nicole,

Thank you for sharing your story!! It was totally unexpected. It's amazing how the human spirit works through any obstacle. I can't believe how insensitive mgt. was to your situation; they sound so cold and heartless.

Congrats again, on your happiness at Virtua. It's a good thing you found out how unfair mgt. was at Cooper before you were there for a long amount of time.

Good Luck in everything you do, and again, thank you for sharing!! I will keep your story in my memory banks for when I apply for work upon graduation.

I've read that Cooper participates in the Baylor program, where you agree to work two 12-hour shifts on Saturdays and Sundays, yet you're paid for a 40-hour work week.
