Anyone at all?

Hello,
I posted a thread 10 days ago to see if anyone was starting classes at Camden Co. Tech Instit. LPN program in April. I haven't had any responses yet. So, I would like to know if anyone has been a prior student there? I would love to get some feedback. I'm just so excited and nervous anything would be appreciated!!! Thanks.

Cami82,
Thanks so much for replying! If you could give me any insight or advice about the program in general that would be great! I know from orientation that it is very demanding. I'm a stay at home mom of two.
I will be doing most of my studies at night and am curious as to how long you study on an average each night? Are your weekends completely occupied with school work? Anything you can tell me will be great. Luckily, I have family to help me out. Just like to be prepared as much as I can. Good luck to you! You must be so excited to be graduating in a few months. Anyway thanks.

Hi again! The program is difficult, but doable. The biggest thing I can emphasize is to hold on to your days. You will need them after core. Core is the easiest part of the program. Study, hmmm I don't study on weekends, until Sunday night. Then I pull an all nighter, for the tests on Monday. I don't recommend that, but I do because I am stupid. I just never learn. I study the night before for tests, and do good. I spend about 4 hours a night-only on test days. Core is fun, but be prepared to lose a few people. I remember crying- losing my friends. Remember to do all extra little assingments that they give. They say it does not count for anything- but behold the first time you decide not to do it, a few extra credit points are offered. Good Luck, and I am sure you will do well.

hey cami,
Thanks for all the good tips! I also wanted to ask about the uniforms for core. During orientation, they said wear white scrubs everyday for class and clinical. Do you have any reccomendations of the best place to shop for them and brands? Can we wear any kind of all white scrubs?
I also ordered all of my books for core. Still trying to find the Tabers cyclopedic med. Dict. They didn't have the one we need on amazon.com.
Thanks for all your help! Laura.

You will not need the Taber's. We never use it. It is a big waste of money. On the first day of school I will give you mine to use. I wil give it to Mrs. Mullen to hand to you. She is my clinical teacher. The white scrubs, do not buy until I ask Mrs. Clarke. They are picky. It will be better to ask first. Iwore a pair of pants my 1st day, and in front of the entire class they announced my pants were unacceptable. I wanted to crawl under a table. Good Luck!

Oh, the best place to buy scrubs is Best Uniform, on Delsea Drive in Westville. Tell them the school name, and you get a discount.

Tabers is a great resource if you guys have to do care plans or clinical prep. I didn't think I'd use my Tabers as much as I truly do. But some of my classmates hardly use it at all.

Hey cami!

It's crunch time here for me! I am running around like crazy getting ready for school. Just have a few more questions to ask you. They said bring all your books the first day of school. The books are quite heavy all combined
what type of book bag or luggage do you haul these around in? Also, do they assign lockers? I'm still unsure about the scrubs. I called the school and they said plain white scrubs. I bought one pair at best uniform the top is LANDAU it has two pockets in the front v-neck. Do shirts need to be tucked in? Anyway, I know your probably busy and i'm sorry about all the questions. Thanks for your time!!! Laura

I was told any white scrubs are fine. The shirts do not need to be tucked in. You will get a break every hour to go to your car to grab your books. We have all the lockers right now, but you will recive a locker when we graduate. I carry a regular Jansport bookbag. Alot of my classmates use rolling luggage to carry their books. I have no problems answering questions. You start school on the 5th? I believe this is what I was told.
