    Hi Everyone!

I'm in nursing school and have been told lately that hospitals in NH are not hiring from the outside, but moreso from within. Is this in regard to those who don't have RN experience? Also, what are the chances of an ASN new graduate getting a position in an ICU specialty? Any out there who have done it rather recently?

    Thanks!

  4. From my (very brief) experience, it is very tough to get that first nursing job in this area unless you have an "in", either having worked for an institution as an LNA/unit secretary/etc. or having done a preceptorship experience as a student in the hospital you're applying to. That's not to say that it's impossible, just more difficult.

I think it's easier to switch hospitals once you have experience as an RN, though most will look at internal candidates first.
  5. Thank you. I figured that. I'm trying to either find a job in a hospital or I plan on applying for a student RN position in the summer. We'll see!
