A&P I at Rivier vs. Nashua Community

I took A&P I and II at Rivier, I had Dr. Cooke and she is a fantastic teacher. It is a bit pricey, but I personally really leared a lot from Dr. Cooke and she has a unique perspective and passion for her teaching! HTH!

I took A&P I and II and microbiology at Nashua Community in 2007-2008, and I was very happy with it. The professor I had for A&P is no longer teaching there, which could affect your experience with it. I chose it over Rivier because of the cost; I'll be paying enough for nursing school when I get in! Every so often our A&P professor would mention a limitation of our course because they didn't have a huge budget, but I learned a lot and still remember most of it after 1-2 years. I have never taken a class at Riv and can't really speak to any differences.

One thing I really liked about NCC was the level of support, and not just academic. Need a transcript? No problem--first one I received back when I ordered them for my NS application. Need to talk to the dept head about something? Just email her; she's back to you within the day. Need answers after hours? The office of the evening division stayed open later, especially during registration. The only administrative weakness I found was that the registrar's phone always went to voice mail, and it took a few tries to get a human. NCC seems to cater to adult students, and it was as easy as possible to take these 3 pre-reqs. Hope this helps.

Dr. Cooke at Rivier was my professor too, and she was FANTASTIC. She's someone who really knows her stuff and presents the material in a way that's accessible and fun and easy to relate to, which also makes it very easy to learn! Good luck with whatever school you choose!

Dr Cooke is one of the best instructors I've ever had. Even after you finish the class you can always go back to her with questions (even 2 years later). She balances her class well with what nursing students need to know and what biology students need to know.
