    I agree, stay organized! I have 2 kids as well, they were 5 and 3 when I started. I always studied around nap and bed times. Right ow my hubby and the kids are in Tn due to a job change, so I am alone..sucks too! Anyway, it's totally doable with kids. Good luck, I'm sure you'll do fine

    101 has one lecture, one lab and one clinical per week. You also have pharmacology once a week. I would suggest all in lecture classes. But I know people that survived online. I had 31 points, but that varies semester by semester, so it's hard to know what the cut-off will be next time. I too have small children and it is a huge challenge, but it is doable, (so far). The time commitment is huge. It's possible to take a day off here and there, but don't get behind as it's nearly impossible to get caught back up. We like to say nursing school is like drinking from a fire hose. It's a lot of information and it's NOTHING like any other classes. It is hard, and I tell people that are interested the truth, not to scare them, just to prepare them. You need to go in knowing that the torture is temporary and the end result is worth it.

    Lecture and lab are 3 hours a week each, clinical is 6 hours a week and pharmacology is 2 hours a week. You do have the option of taking lecture and pharmacology online. I have my classes clumped together on Tues-Thurs so I don't study too much on those days, maybe a few hours. On Fri-Mon I usually study for at least 8-10 hours each day. Since I'm not working for the time being, I treat studying as my "full-time job" and going to class as my "part-time job". I also do not have kids but I do babysit on the weekends so that has been my "fun time" since school has started. I essentially have no life outside of school, and I'm ok with that. But it will all pay off in the end!

    Hello, I have a question. I was looking at the degree programs and there's 2 types of nursing. Which one should I choose to become a registered nurse and how do I get there. When I was looking at both of the degrees I noticed that for biology you have to have 16 credits does that mean I have to take Bio 189, Bio 223, Bio 224, and Bio 251 before starting my major, and one more thing can I start my major and take these classes while I take my major classes?

    Yes, there are 2 different programs, one is an LPN-RN bridge which you can only take if you're already an LPN. The other is the ADN (Associate Degree Nursing) program which is what I'm in currently. It does require 16 credits of biology, 8 of which (189 & 223) must be completed before you apply. The other 8 credits MAY be completed during the program but most likely you will need those points in order to be accepted. Those classes are also tremendously helpful for the first semester nursing classes. I can't imagine not having that knowledge already, I would be so lost. Your best bet would be to go to a limited entry orientation so you will be eligible to have a meeting with a nursing specific advisor. Or there is a nice man at the limited entry advisor's office that can probably give you some pointers. They will look at all of your credits and tell you what to do before applying. I would recommend that you take ALL of the pre-reqs & general education classes prior to applying. It will take a bit longer but you will get more points on your application and during the program it is way too much work to have to worry about other classes.
