I'm not really sure, but I have heard in the part of NV I live in they prefer NV residents. Do you have the NV license?

In reality I would start in California if your california licensed.

I am a resident here for 10 years and I have tried not only local Las Vegas, but Reno as well and they really are only taking from the pool of the surrounding area. Even more so that Reno isn't taking from Vegas and visa versa. Renown just hired 48 new graduates from the area (and no BSN doesn't seem to give you any hirer *pun intended* advantage over associates. Las Vegas hospitals are looking at new grads but with virtually (I think is 5+) schools they are doing the same.

Right now I know Bakersfield and a few other areas are hiring new grads in rural areas, I've applied there as well since I'd love to get out of Vegas and start in an ICU setting, yet I know that there probably is over 1000+ people applying to those just because of the shortage of new graduate programs.

Good luck.

and remember that the Airforce is a great place to get started.

Hi! Thanks for your reply! Im really having a hard time looking for a job. I got an offer in vegas for 25/hr im not sure if i will take it coz my friends told me ghat they got a job that oays 30/hr and they dnt have exp as well. Im not sure if they are just joking around or what! Haha but i might get it rather than having no job:))

Well having a job is much better than not having a job, plus 25$/hr here isn't that bad at all.

If I was to move down to where my family lives in anaheim I would have to make 35$/hr just to keep up with that vegas hourly. Its all relative to where you want to be. There is no income tax in Nevada and the McCarran airport can take you virtually any place in the world including korea....south korea that is. Also try not to compare what people got as far as jobs. I've been doing that now for five months and its only gotten me one thing...angry. Be happy to have employment where ever it may be and just try to tool yourself up for the position you want to be in.

Hehe yeah thanks for the advice. Im new here ni nevada and i didnt know that there's no state tax. I thought the employer is ripping me off (iknow it is silly to think that way) :) but yeah i just want to know the range so i know that theyvare being honest coz they told me i cant tell other employyes my rate and im not allowed to ask others about theirs too. And that made me curious if they are being honest with the starting rate:))

Welcome to Nevada. At my temporary job I make 4$ more than someone who is fulltime and has been there for 3 years. I guess ignorance is bliss because their are websites such as glassdoor.com that people volunteer pay information.

wow congratulations wildleviosa24... I'm so happy to hear that after like a month of your job search (since the day you first posted this), it seems you have landed a job already.... I am really in so much relief just to hear that.. Do you mind sharing me some tips on how you applied. I passed the NCLEX just last week of Nov and am now really really in serious measures looking for a job around LV area.. I'm a foreign grad and also from CA, but NV licensed.. so did you apply personally for this job you have right now?

Coz I already have submitted online applications, but haven't heard any for interviews and of that sort. If its ok may I contact u personally? Thanks a lot..

Hi:) all hospitals in nevada accepts online application:) they are not entertaining walk in applicants but if you want to apply in long term facility there's a lot:) i would recommend you to apply personally(walk in) in bursing homes. Thats what i did :) but it is still up to you. Most hosp are nt accepting new grads so its just applybon nursing homes first:) wish u all the luck:)
