I'm currently enrolled (fixing to start Block 3.0 tomorrow) and the ABSN program is every bit as intense as you may have read. While the material we've learned so far isn't particularly difficult, the pace at which it's delivered and at which we have to learn it to 90% proficiency adds a very significant challenge. I really don't do much beyond go to the gym, Sim. Lab, or study--I can see the Strip from my apt. down in Henderson but haven't thought about going down there in a month...

Wow - I didn't realize the BSN program was having similar problems to the ABSN program.

Doesn't it strike anyone as odd that Roseman requires only a 2.75 GPA or higher to get into the ABSN program but once you get there they require a 90% on everything? Aren't they setting people up for failure?

Also, any thoughts on why Roseman isn't invested in keeping students (simply from a monetary perspective)?

I think a lot of students are capable of getting better grades then they received with their first degree. I graduated with my first degree with a 2.8 GPA, and I have had no problems with the 90% because this time I am going through without partying and missing class. A 90% on everything is not too bad if the students work hard. The school is not setting us up for failure, it is giving us the oppurtunity to succeed. Try to think of the glass more as half full.

Hi,

Don't want to rain on your parade, but please read nitenurse702 post....if you value your time, money, education and sanity you will take that post to heart as it is true. There is a lot you don't know or understand until you are on the inside looking out. Your logic seems well intended and I thought the very same thing.... until I experienced it for myself.... Wish you the very very best in finding the right school for you. We are all working extremely hard to become the very best nurses we can be.... and help fellow students to choose the best path possible.

Wishing you success!;)

Good question...that's what we can't figure out...seems like a terrible business model no?

Best wishes for your nursing future...:)

Thank you for your concern, but you are not "raining on my parade." I am on the inside and set to graduate in April from cohort 2 ABSN. I appreciate your positive outlook but I am afraid you had a different experience at Roseman than I am having. Coming to school here has been a good use of my time and money and I feel great about the education I am receiving. I took a test today which the school offers (free of charge) to help us prepare for the NCLEX. It is done by ATI, the same company that gives the TEAS test. I scored very well and the test results showed that most likely I will pass the NCLEX. Not bad since I still have 6 months left until I graduate. I hope you find a school that works for you and I am sorry you had a bad experience here.

HI,

I appreciate your input....I am actually still at Roseman and fully intend on finishing here. I am glad you are having a good experience, as you are the one and only shining star I have encountered. I know it has all been discussed before, and I won't go into all the details again, however, cohorts 1 & 2 had the advantage of 5 raw points for group points, as opposed to 5% points for group points (that changed with the 3rd cohort). Plus, in many instances the 5% actually was more like 2.5% because of the number of questions on the exams. In many many cases members of our cohort would still be with us had they had that advantage. That aside, these are not students that did not study hard or slacked off in any way. These are students that would have been wonderful dedicated nurses. We have already lost over 50% of our cohort and we have a long way to go.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It's nice to know that you are finding it a positive time.

Best regards,

:nurse:

I am glad you are also doing well at Roseman. It is good that there are people on this site telling the truth about how it is possible to get through the program. Just so you know I am not the only shining star in the program, there are many others. The funny thing about an online school is you do not meet many people from other classes. Thanks for keeping it positive and representing your soon to be alma mater well. I am sure you will be proud to have a degree with a 4.0 GPA from this University. Hopefully the University keeps its good reputation in this community and it looks good on our resumes.

Yes, I plan on going on to get my MSN once I am working and I'm sure the 4.0 will be a benefit to say the least.

It would be great if we had more contact with other cohorts, just to meet and greet.

Quick question... any focus/study suggestions on Pharm? As usual....lots to do and only 2 weeks to do it in... :-)

Best!:)

Tex201,

I have just accepted a seat into the ABSN program. However, after reading the comments, I must admit. I am a little scared.

I really dont have the option of 14 vs 18 months. How do you know which cohort you are in and why is it only cohort 1 & 2 have gotten the extra 5 raw points and no other class?

Thanks,

Nina

Hi. I applied for BSN program at Roseman University Nursing. I was invited for the interview last week, and it had been a week now and I still haven't heard from the school yet. It seems like lots of people who applied received an acceptance letter and I am still waiting for the school's decision. I was wondering..... is there a good chance of getting accepted to the program after the interview? Or are there many number of student who receives a rejection letter afther the interview? I do not know how well I did on the interview and I am worried. I would greatly appreciate your feedbacks! Thanks!!:o
