NSC FALL 2014

U.S.A. Nevada

Published

Hello,

Is anyone applying to the Nursing Program at Nevada State College next Fall 2014 - Regular track?

We are in So CA. Will there be any issue after graduating from NSC or UNLV to apply for CA RN license? I do like 2-year program, saving one year, versus 3 year in CSU.

Not at all. You just have to send in your application for licensure to whichever state you want to be licensed in and then pass your nclex.

Can any of the students currently attending tell me what the typical days for classes are and times they end for the 1st semester full time cohort? I'm currently working and would like to still be employed during school.

I'm not currently attending, but I am a regular track graduate. The first semester is pretty tough. I'm not saying you can't work because a select few did it, but it might be hard. For two days, you're in school for like 8hrs (lectures & lab). Then you have another day where you're not in as long because its just lecture. Then you have a 12hr clinical once a week. You also need to go open lab on Saturdays to practice for your skills testing.

I think for the first couple of weeks, they have you in school Mon-Fri. So they can go over everything you need to know. Then after that its 4 days a week of class time. Saturdays are optional, but everyone goes.

Like I said... not sure if they changed anything. But that's my experience.

Thanks LVHI_RN! Yea I have been hearing from my gf about how difficult the first semester will be (she's a CSN grad). I really appreciate the info you provided. My current job is pretty sweet in that I can study for the majority of the time that I'm there so I think I will be okay, but I will quit if it starts to get too crazy for sure. Would you say on most lecture days I would be out by 2pm ? I'm trying to figure out work hours that would work around school. Thanks again !

For us, we did not get out by 2pm on the one lecture day. I think we got out around 4pm. They may have changed it in the more recent semesters. Again, I'm not sure.

It is good that you'll be able to study. It'll help a lot. Good luck!
