Moving to the Nevada forum.

I'm not in Nevada so I don't have any leads for you, but I can tell you that if you haven't already gotten your license, do so immediately. There are so many applicants for jobs that many employers will not consider you until you are licensed, because there's no need for them to take chances on whether you will be licensed.

This is particularly true if you are a foreign grad, since BONs tend to be pretty strict on their educational requirements. Employers want applicants they know can definitely be able to work there, and a license would show that (as well as your having any immigration issues, work visas, etc., squared away). Employers don't want to take a chance waiting to see if the BON will accept your foreign education and grant you a license, not when there's a lot of home-grown applicants already licensed and ready to start working yesterday.

Best of luck!

A month is nothing, plus you're doing this during the holiday seasons, so most hiring people will probably wait till the new year.

If you're applying into hospitals, it could be much tougher, as they prefer to hire locals and US citizens.

You could try looking into home health, nursing homes, LTC or SNF places, they usually are more flexible to hiring outsiders.

Another option is to become a personal care giver.

Thanks for the reply

I'm not in NV and not sure if it's the same in NV in applying into NG programs.

In most hospitals, they will usually consider your application as long as you graduated from college within one year and have zero to less than 1 year of actual RN experience. So if you're applying to hospitals with the one year acceptance deadline, don't be surprised as to why your application did not go further.

Sometimes, when the HR person or manager (hospitals) see the lag in time, have little to no experience, they tend to prefer a "more fresh" nurse. It doesn't matter if one passed the NCLEX within that one year period, as it's still graduation date based. I think partly also due to hundred's of applicants going after just a few jobs, it makes the HR hiring easier to quickly eliminate the "older" grads.

That's why I mentioned try going into the home health, nursing homes, LTC or SNF places, they are usually not as strict, but it is considered sub-acute, so it's not always the preferred experience to get into an acute settings. of most hospitals. Good luck!

Thank u..

just keep on applying, you'll get a job eventually. look for hospitals that have internship or residency programs for new grads. go out and attend job fairs, network with other people. Don't let anything discourage you.
