I passed the NCLEX on the first try in 2010. I have not worked as a nurse because I could not find a job. Finally I got a job!! It is a RN in a small ER. I am so thrilled! I have been a Paramedic for the past 23 years and most employers felt that being a Paramedic was more of an liability than an asset. This new job is going to require a substantial commute. I am so excited to finally be able to work as an RN. I will still need to work as a Paramedic in California to maintain my Health benefits. They are so much better and so much cheaper than what my new job offers in Nevada. I hope I can handle 2 jobs for a while. I understand that after a year in the ER, I will be able to move about a little easier.

  4. rshenry,

Congrats on your new ER RN position in Nevada.

I am curious to know about your WGU progress. After reading a post from you that stated you transferred from EC to WGU, I began looking into the school's nursing programs. It appears it may be a short intense process to getting a BSN and it is on the CA BON approved schools list.

I am currently awaiting my CPNE date through Excelsior's ADN program and due to my husband's job we had to relocate to California where I have recently learned that EC grads are not allowed to sit for the RN boards. This information is very disheartening so I am looking at alternative routes. I am not close enough to any borders to commute to another state.

Well, I just wanted to check and see how things were going with WGU and your thoughts on the school's BSN program.
