I'm a 3rd semester student & I took 125 online. The instructor is horrible - just going to say. READ THE BOOK! And use the powerpoints to push the main points home. My advice is to skip listening to the lectures. There are a lot of tangents in those audios & half of the slide have audio that are 30 mins+. You'll make it through.

First semester will break you. I don't think any of us made it through without a few tears shed. Make sure you know EXACTLY what you need to have at each class. Check everywhere at least twice (hopefully canvas will be more organized than the angel page was). Those 3% deductions can hurt you! And practice NCLEX questions! It will help immensely!

Omg!!! @ Christina & Sombra (with the Gizmo pic lol haha) i have been reading your guys pre entrance threads to your RN program from sept on till nov and in between i did not read haha but i want to tell you every post you two put up i was feeling your anxiety/excitement, nervousness, and then HAPPY moments when you got IN!@!! felt like i was in a 3d movie I am alll the way in Afghanistan I am a private contractor here on tour with the US ARMY... i am not in military though, anyway omg so I am planning on moving from my hometown Cali to go for the RN program at CSN dang, i am at a military tiny base in middle of mountains and i am reading your guys post, aint that something!! hope you all are proud because your posts made a huge diff in someones life (MINE) I just wish I knew how long the prereqs might take and not jus start to finish but if its pretty tough to get in etc. I have 8 years of CNA exp. Home care though, My fam was strict didnt let me do more than 3 months of skilled nursing job that I did in 2005. anyways I went in 2009 for the LVN program at Kaplan Univ in San Diego Cali... I left due to fam reasons. I completed 8 courses/classes but i know not 1 single class might transfer sadly.. I did anatomy physio and Nutrition, and Some science courses there and Child development and all of that stuff but sadly as I said money down the drain (9k out of pocket no interest) and, now i don't want to dwell on it i rather just start fresh and go for the PREREQs for the RN at CSN and reading all your guys posts made me not want to think twice.. how is CSN so far treating you two? just know, that someone at the end of the Earth is greatly impacted by your guys posts V/R Tima

    Tima,

If your sciences are less than 7 years old they should transfer. If you go to the CSN website and search for the RN program it'll tell you everything you need. Everything is worth points, and the more points you have the better. You need english 101, psychology, bio 189, math 120 or 100B (those are the classes they count for your GPA, so have good grades there) and then your AP 1&1, microbiology, speech gives you points, you Nevada history and constitution and your TEAS all give you points so you'll want everything done before you apply!

Hi everyone! I am a hopeful for Spring 2014. This thread has been incredibly helpful!
I have a question for current nursing students. For the full time track , is it just like other regular CSN classes when it comes to the dates. Do Spring classes end around mid may and Fall in mid december. Also once you are in and go to the 2 initial orientations, are there any other orientations you have to attend during the summers or are summers completely off for full time track?

I'm full time and i just started 2nd semester. Yes, the dates for the semesters are the same as all other non-nursing classes but the kicker is that the instructors email you before the semester starts to have you complete assignments that are due on the first day. In nursing 115 (medsurg I), you even have a math test on the first day of clinical depending on what day yours is on, it might be on the very first day of school! So for me, the very end of my summer was super busy. I did have a hospital orientation the week before classes began which was on campus, but some people had their orientation at the hospital earlier in the summer. So if you're planning on going away for the entire summer or something, that may not work. I'll find out in a few months if they make you do stuff over Christmas break. Maybe SunshineDaisy can answer that question

Thanks for all the great info. I was planning on possibly being gone June and July but I would be here all of August so I wanted to know if there was any way that would work, but thanks for the heads up christina731!
