CSN RN Spring 2013

U.S.A. Nevada

Published

Hello everyone, I'm new to the site and I was wondering if there are any fellow CSN RN Spring '13 hopefuls out there. I just turned in my application today and I would love to get to know some of my potential classmates through this forum :)

Oh, oops :p We were told in ACE where we'd be going.

that's what I thought! don't know what this individual is talking about...have a great day

They don't give you an option between new & used so I'm pretty sure they are all new. That sounds like a good deal to me...but you won't have the nifty online access that they demonstrated at orientation. Also, I don't think there is a book only option. They only let you choose between ebooks only or ebooks + hard copies.

Also, I was at the bookstore yesterday ordering name tags (btw they are almost $12 each--ouch!!) and they don't have the 101 books yet. They said it probably won't be until close to/after Christmas. What a nice, expensive gift that we will all be buying ourselves :p

The ebook only option was the one I saw on the bookstore's website. I decided to go old school and just get the hard copies from Amazon and I've already started getting my books! I've also been getting supplies from there, I have yet to get a name tag and I had no idea it would be that much :( Thanks for the info!

12 bucks each!! I got 3 extras from a trophy store that was 12 bucks total!

I was an alternate so they said they ordered my first name tag but they never said when i would get it or where to pick it up. Any alternates here who ended up getting their name tags?

Hi everyone, this is my first time on here. I may not even be asking in the right place, but, just want honest feedback on whether or not 41 is too old to get started in nursing. I have no undergraduate degree, all I have is a dream. Just went through a major transition in careers and now I'm trying to find out what I'm going to be when I grow up. Any insight would be helpful. I'm going to see the CSN counselor tomorrow and see what they say. This is a whole new world to me.

Thanks in advance for any input! :nailbiting:

I know I am super late to respond to this but if you are in the Las Vegas area I suggest you go to CSN and talk to the professor that teaches the Nursing Toolbox class. I can't name her by name per the rules of this forum but everyone there knows who she is. She got her RN at 49 and is an incredible, compassionate, knowledgable nurse, instructor, and mentor.

I know her name because I just took the toolbox but I don't think they let you post names here. But I am 46 so I don't think you are ever too old and there are people in their 60's who have gone through and graduated!!!

I obviously know her name too but did not post it because of the rules like I stated in my post...

Can you tell me where you bought your extra name tags? Are they magnetic or pins? I would like to buy 2 or 3 more just in case. Thanks for your help.

Sorry, wasn't meant as a put down to you at all....I wasn't even thinking like that...thanks for any helpful posts...I feel bad you took it like that...I was more interested in building up the individual who was concerned about age and was not as focused on the name

I got my extra badges at the trophy shop on Sahara & Torrey Pines. I got all magnetic - they are $8.50 each or 5 for $25. Super simple and ready the next day. I got the impression they do a lot for the nursing students.

By the way the books are in at the Charleston Campus. I got mine last week. A case full of them. Literally!

I should have bought my nametags there :/ Stupid bookstore. I was there getting my toolbox book along with other stuff and I didn't realize that they were $12 each until I looked at the receipt. What a ripoff!

I guess I will be buying myself a nice $700+ Christmas gift next week! How exciting!....not...

Sombra, I haven't seen you around here lately. Did you ever find the facebook group?
