Anyone here applying for fall? :)

I am thinking about starting to buy some of the supplies we need instead of buying them all at once later.... Anyone else thinking about doing this (or am i crazy?!). christina731, do you have any suggestions on what to get/not get/good brands/etc?

On the TEAS my English score was my lowest score also! Although overall I did well (84%). And on the math I only missed 1 question!!

WHAT?!? Only missed one on math? I think I found my dosage calculations study partner!! :yes:

I'm thinking of buying some stuff too....I've read in past threads where some helper books (the "Made Incredibly Easy" books and the "straight A's" books) were helpful to some...also the stuff I know we'll need like the stethescope and BP cuff...Maybe a watch too. I just hate the thought of forking out all that $$ at once. Yikes! Thanks for all the details Christina. You're a super huge help!

But forking out all of the money at once is so fun! J/k :). I did it right around Christmas and you know what, some people didn't gets gifts and I'm ok with that. One more thing to think about, if you can get ahold of your vaccine records to see what you may need it would help to do that now because some of the vaccines have to be done in a certain sequence and the timing is of the essence. Another option is to have blood titers done to check your immunity to everything so you end up getting stabbed a minimal number of times :p. The only thing that I would wait on are TB and CPR since those are only good for a year and two years respectively. If you wait to get them done until later in the summer so you will only have to get one more TB and no more CPR until you graduate.

Hi guys! I'm an outgoing student of the CSN nursing program (May 2013). My experience was fantastic and I have to say that every teacher I've had during my time has been amazing. I heard horror stories about the staff as I was coming in, but it's just people trying to scare you. The instructors are top quality and they want to see you succeed. Many also have a great sense of humor! I hope you all get in and don't stress if you have 28 points and above.

On a side note, I never took a single toolbox class, so I can't vouch for it. But it's possible to make it through without spending the extra money.

Ah, christina, you are following in my footsteps! Now I know the newbies that come after I graduate will be in good hands with you around :) I can't be around these threads forever, no matter how much I want to!

Glad I wasn't the only one stalking the other threads!

I have turned everything in and I'm now just patiently waiting to hear back. Thanks for all the useful info Christina! Would anyone have an idea on when the orientations are? I live in Ohio and I am moving out there in the beginning of August. I think there is a mandatory one sometime in May, so I wanted to get an idea of plane ticket prices.

I can remember waiting for my acceptance call, it was so nerve wrecking! I tried to keep busy amd not think about but as the date approached for the call i was going hysterical!

As for selecting classes, at the first orientation there are about 30 options of classes grouped together (lecture, lab, clinical) for nursing 101. You pick what is best for you but the catch is there is a lottery in the selection process. Depending on what # you draw thats the order you pick. So my advice, pick at least 5 options, cause when its your turn to pick classes it might be gone!

I was just told today by my lecture instructor that they are doing away with the lottery and just going by what your enrollment appointment through MyCSN is. I'm not sure if that applies to current students or incoming students or all. But the lottery process was a bit stressful it would be nice if they did away with it!

No problem! I'm happy to help! :) The first orientation was maybe a week after they notified us of our acceptance. The 2nd one was about 2 weeks before the semester began along with an advisor meeting the week before the semester began. All of these are mandatory.

This is so exciting!! I'm having some trouble with a "Course Equivalency Form" which may just end up being the death of me!! I've had my app together form MONTHS and this is holding me up (I just found out last week I needed the form...). **sigh** I'm on hold with the registrar as we speak so I can get it turned in officially today! Oh man...they just told me that it won't be complete until the end of the business day tomorrow. I may just pull all my hair out by then! If I didn't have a 3 week old baby, I would sit patiently in the registrars office until it was complete. :) Looks like my app won't be in until tomorrow or Thursday. I am SO not a last minute person...this is killing me!

Would you say taking the online pharmacology class is a bad idea? Have you heard good or bad?

I've read a lot about it in the past threads. I would be interested to hear what Christina and SunshineDaisy have to say....I've taken a ton of online classes and I wonder if familiarity with self-paced/online classes makes a difference? Like a fool, I will be working full time, caring for my new child, and full time classes...:nailbiting: I was hoping to be able to leave my job, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. So I hope I can swing the online class...because I think that may be all I have time for.
