CSN RN Fall 2012

U.S.A. Nevada

Published

Hi Everyone!

I am new to the site and will be applying to CSN's RN program in March. I wanted to start a thread and see who will be applying with me and how things are coming along for everyone. :) I have all pre-reqs completed with a pre-req GPA of 3.58. I took the TEAS about a month ago and I passed, but wasn't thrilled with my score, particularly in science. I got an adjusted individual total score of 74.7%. Reading: 92.9%, Math 70%, Science 60.4%, and English & Language Usage: 76.7%. I barely passed the science portion and have signed up to take the TEAS one more time in February. With my current TEAS score, I have a total of 29 points for my application. I'm really hoping to get a better score and another point or two from the second TEAS!

Please let me know if you'll be applying in this cycle. I'd love to exchange advice and information and just connect with *hopefully* some future classmates! :)

well i guess orientation cant be may 11 if we find out that week if we get in or not...and i wonder why selection is delayed this semester its no different from previous semesters, add up the points and call people

I just emailed the limited entry office, Debbie said that the the selection is delayed this year and that it may not be until the second week of May. I don't know if my heart or my husband can handle another 2 weeks of panic attacks!

I have 28 points, I was taking a CNA class in January that was going to get me up to 29 points, but then the State Board shut it down the second week literally in the middle of class. There wasn't enough time to get into another one and pass the boards before March 1st.

I just hope 28 is enough!

i never heard of someone with 28 points not getting in for fulltime...no worries....and to the person who had 30....

I just called the nursing program, orientation is on May 11th, 8am!

well maybe they will call us the first week in may...i thought about it and maybe they pushed it back to make sure they have enough professors so they know how many students they can take...oh well...the wait is on

We know for sure it's less than 18 days! Good luck everyone!! :w00t:

I think the delay has to do with the new limited entry programs. I really don't see how they needed to make phlebotomy a LE course! Next thing they are going to do it make CNA a LE class (which I'm sure is actually in talk & not just sarcasm on my part). It sucks that we won't find out for another week or two :-(

Does anyone know if we will be picking up our packets this friday the 27th or next friday May 4th? Do they let you send someone in your place if you can't be there? And do they start at 8am or 9am? I may not even get in but if I do I'm trying to plan around my sister having a baby May 4th out of state and I really don't want to miss it.

i didnt ask anyone but i would think next week because we wont know this week if we got in or not because of the delay but try emailing the limited entry office to know for sure

I love the program. I have learned so much in just two semesters. If I could give you all one piece of advice for first semester it would be to avoid online courses at all costs. Secondly, hang in there because it gets much better. First semester is really hard, but if you make it through second semester is MUCH more enjoyable. Good luck!

May 11th is my birthday! That would be a great birthday gift haha! How do you like the program?

I just posted a new thread about online classes, but I've gotten mixed feedback on them. I've read the reviews on ratemyprofessor. Are there other reasons you wouldn't take them online?

I'm interested to know more about online classes too. I've always really liked them in the past and they work for me because I check in every day and I'm super organized but some of my friends have hated them so I'm curious to hear how online classes are in the nursing program. I don't really have a choice because I work full-time and I'm saving up my PTO to take off when I need to but I can't take off a full day every week for classes that could be taken online.

I just went into the limited entry advising office and was told by the director that calls will go out at the end of next week!
