CSN RN Fall 2012

U.S.A. Nevada

Published

Hi Everyone!

I am new to the site and will be applying to CSN's RN program in March. I wanted to start a thread and see who will be applying with me and how things are coming along for everyone. :) I have all pre-reqs completed with a pre-req GPA of 3.58. I took the TEAS about a month ago and I passed, but wasn't thrilled with my score, particularly in science. I got an adjusted individual total score of 74.7%. Reading: 92.9%, Math 70%, Science 60.4%, and English & Language Usage: 76.7%. I barely passed the science portion and have signed up to take the TEAS one more time in February. With my current TEAS score, I have a total of 29 points for my application. I'm really hoping to get a better score and another point or two from the second TEAS!

Please let me know if you'll be applying in this cycle. I'd love to exchange advice and information and just connect with *hopefully* some future classmates! :)

does anyone know the cut off score

some are notified the first orientation. I don't know how they pick them though!

I think alternates are picked by score. Like if the cutoff was 28 and not all of the 28s got in (hypothetical!), then the remaining 28s would be put in a lotto for position (1,2,3 etc). Then the 27s would be put in a lotto for the remaining spots.

Also wanted to comment on the "rumors"... Being a hospital employee, I KNOW that the nurse managers PREFER csn students! Even the CNAs do (myself included). Csn students work harder than ANY nursing students I've seen. The fact that csn has cracked down speaks wonders for the program.

Just a tip to my fellow nursing students: when you are in clinicals, do not be caught sitting down! I constantly see UNLV & Touro students SITTING!! This makes CNAs & nurses not want to help you. Since we are at CSN, I don't think this will be a problem.. But wanted to throw it out there! The other day, I had a student come up to me and tell me to find her when I did a bed bath so that she could do a skin assessment. She was chatting with her friends when I was ready to do it. Do you think I went and told her? **** No!

Has anyone picked up their packets yet? It sure would be nice to get some good news (as an alternate) but I doubt it.

I picked mine up around 1 this afternoon. How about you? Do u know how many alternates there are?

I picked mine up earlier. Based on the sign in sheets I, (and I don't know how many names per sheet). There were 4 pages for full time, and two pages for part time. There were also 2 pages for the alternates, but the second one wasn't full. I know my "assessment" is rather arbitrary. I didn't ask how many were selected for each program. I did over hear ---- saying that they won't know for sure how many alternates they are taking until after next Friday's orientation. Believe it or not, people don't show up for it.

I picked up my packet but it was about one too, so I can't say about what the outlook is :-(

Does anyone know how high of a score we have to get on the teas test during our second orientation ?

It's not the teas again, but it's proctors by the same company (ati), not sure on the scores though

Does anyone know what sort of material is covered on that ATI test? I'm sure we'll all find out more about it at the first orientation, but I'm anxious to start preparing for it! :)

It's not a TEas test. It's more like a learning style type test, I guess you could say.
