CCSN Selection Criteria

  1. Does anyone who either applied or got accepted to CCSN for the Fall 06 ADN Program know what the lowest number of points one needed to get in? I am wanting to apply for Fall 07, but I won't have Bio224 yet, just wondering if I will have a chance. I already have a Bachelors, so I will get 4 pts. for that, hopefully it helps. Thanks for any info.

    Hey Carrie!
I'm already in the program, but had a few friends that applied for Fall 06. One said the cut off was 21 the other said 23. They had over 800 applicants! I know that the chances are better applying for Spring semesters since the Fall semester students cant count the points for the classes they are currently in (completion date is before grades are posted).
Good luck to you!!!! You'll love the program!

Thanks for the response Lisa. I spoke with an advisor and he told me that 21 pts. was the cut-off. Bummer! I have to retake 189 because I took it 9 years ago, so that means I can't get 224 in until summer. As long as I get B's in Bio 189 and 223, I will have 24 pts. before I take the NLN test. I'm thinking that will be good enough. Looks like it will be Spring 08 for me. That seems like an eternity away. I thought about going to Touro or NSC, but that means more classes and more cost for the program. From what I have read, having an associates is just as good as the bachelors, is this what you have found? Well, congrats to you for already being there, I'm jealous!

I just got in for spring, the cut off was 18 pts i think.
Your chances for spring are better cause the pts are generally lower and the applications aren't as much as well, good luck

I'm trying to get into the Fall 07 program. I have 22 points and I'm not sure if it will be enough. How was the NLN test, I take it in March and I'm wondering what I really need to study?

There is a study guide for the NLN by MacDonald that is really good. It covers the entire exam, has quite a few practice tests too. I used it and scored enough to get some extra points towards admission. You can buy it at the college bookstore on Charleston or Borders, or check out ebay. There is more than one edition out.

Speaking of different schools, has anyone checked out Apollo college? It opened last year and first class started on the 8th of Jan and I checked it out. But i'm worried about them not being accredited for everything yet, they claim they have other schools in Oregon, Arizona and some other places. I'm just tired of waitin to get in at CCSN. I am going to pay to take the NLN exam. I have tried some of the sample exams and good lawd. Don't look like i'll be passing anytime soon. Do you know if CCSN has any study groups?

Although I am definitely going to wait until I get into CCSN, I called Apollo just for information. They couldn't answer a lot of my questions and someone who supposedly knew more info was to get back to me. That was 3 months ago and 2 more calls and I never heard from anyone, so if I had seriously considered it that would have definitley changed my mind. As for the NLN exam I understand your concern. I will taking it for the first time next month and I am not too confident. I am doing terrible on the vocab/comprehension sections. I'll post my thoughts and advice about the test after I take it.

I also am doing terrible on the vocab/comprehension and my test is in March. I guess we will just have to wait ans see how it goes..I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks for your reply..I think I'm gonna stick it out w/ CCSN too. Just tempting to try and get through faster. Just want to get in the program. Thanks. Good Luck on your tests and let me know how hard it was. I think I might be going for March as well. *crossing fingers*

Hopefully you have already paid because the time slots for testing were filling up quickly. Lisa
