Transferring to UNLV

Has any one had any problems transferring to UNLV from a Community college from CA, or any other state? Im attending Solano Community college, and i plan on transferring fall semester of 09 hoping they will accept my pre req units. Is there some way i can know what they will and will not accept?

You may also be able to get a hold of one of their counsellors and provide a copy of your transcripts for them to review for credit towards their pre-reqs. This may require that you officially apply, though. Worth a shot.

Thanks guys,

I also found this in the UNLV website.

http://financialaid.unlv.edu/dars/tcetables/

Its basically a system that shows whats transferable from other schools to UNLV. Wish i had known this earlier, i just found out one of my classes is not going to be accepted. I will officially apply and see what i can do to get em waived. Im going to need all the credits i can get.

You can always appeal to have your classes accepted. I did & it worked, they accepted my classes. See your advisor (once you get accepted to UNLV) & find out what form you need to fill out. I had 3 classes that they accepted (we moved from AZ).

When I transferred to UNLV 3 years ago, I had to petition for classes to be accepted and they eventually were.

Depending on which classes are not accepted, you need to contact that department. The department chair has to look at whether or not it should be transferred.

There were students in my class that had some issues in the final semester with classes that had supposedly been accepted causing problems when graduation packets were submitted. Hopefully, the issues with the pre-admit advisors have been cleared up, but I would advise you to be aware of this even after you move from the "pre-nursing" to "nursing" major.

This is why the School of Nursing requires students to apply for graduation the beginning of their 3rd semester, so if it comes up that you need to take other classes, you can do so your 4th semester.

Thankfully they got rid of a horrible pre-nursing advisor who essentially screwed students over because she was lazy with her work.
