Re: are there foreigned trained nurses here in las vegas
Hello!
I am a Registered Respiratory Therapist, and my wife is a Filipino trained Registered Nurse.I did a travel contract back in 2005, and the "majority" of the nurses I worked with were Filipino.I don't see a problem if you've been approved by the CGFNS already, and you are RN eligible. They will probably require that you have your RN first. The only bad thing is that "some" hospitals are "not" hiring new grads right now due to budget cuts. You will probably have to sell yourself (skills) to them on your resume.I always tell my wife to emphasize her UST education since UST (1611) is older than Harvard (1638). Most Americans are shocked that by that...and a little jealous.
If you can't get hired by a hospital, you can always try a skilled nursing facility or an acute rehab hospital like Healthsouth.Give it a try.
Keep in mind, that without Filipino nurses in Vegas...the city would shut down, and people would die. Be proud of your education -- its better than most U.S. programs. Most U.S. nurses only have an AS degree, unlike Filipinos who have a BSN.
I hope this helps.
