Summer Schedule Question... please advise

The summer 09 schedule came out today and I am looking at taking Biology 189. Well, I know that "you" are suppose to register for 189L first and then 189 but I'm confused looking at the schedule.

I was told that you have a lecture 2x/week and a lab 1x/week. On the schedule it says something like this:

SUMM2009 8-WEEK SESSION BIOL 189L 803 FUND OF LIF SCIENCE LAB 22 62168 0
CY 2031
M W 04:30P-07:30P
JUN 08 TO JUL 31 PARKER

But than this for BIOL 189

WEEK SESSION BIOL 189 803 FUND OF LIF SCIENCE 44 62158 4
CY 2037
MTWR
06:00P-07:20P
JUN 08 TO JUL 31 MAHRT

Ok so how are suppose to do both when they are the same time and day? I am sure I'm misunderstanding something here and would love for some help with this matter.

P.S. I hope I'm not sounding like a complete idiot right about now.

Joi

When you are choosing your classes don’t worry about the section number, (BIOL 189 801,802,803) The section numbers don't have to match between lecture and lab. Get the classes that fit the times you need. You may or may not have the same teacher for lecture or lab.
It looks like on the schedule that during the summer you will have lecture 4 days a week and lab 2 days a week. Just make sure they don’t overlap or it will not let you register. That is valuable time lost when registering. Also, have alternate schedules just in case those classes are full!!!! The Fall 09 schedule shows that lecture meets 2 days and lab once a week. And you’re right. Select your lab first. Also, make sure when you are able to register for your classes, to be Jonny-on-the-spot to get them. I hear they fill up within seconds!!! Don’t rule out NSC for your classes. I know it is a hassle to register at another school but just consider it. My thoughts are, “get where you can get it”. As to the best instructors, try looking at www.ratemyprofessor.com. It isn’t always accurate but it will give you an insight as to what to expect from an instructor. Ex. teacher gives study notes for tests, teacher is unorganized, teacher is approachable or you need to run as fast as you can from this teacher, etc. My two
Hope this helps and good luck!

Wow... Thank you so much for all the info. A lot to think about and consider. Hm. I am not sure I can go 5 days a week so I might have to wait until the Fall, not sure though.
As far as registering, I have it on my calendar and will be on there as soon as I can. Unfortunately, I am not able to pre-register because I missed last semester! Ugh.
