St. Rosa Dominican?

Howdy.....

Just wondering if anyone has any experince working for St. Rosa Dominican Hospital? Although they do not offer a bonus or housing like many other facilities across the US, I figure decent training and a solid reputation is worth more. I got offered a job in the ER and they are willing to put me through the critical care course - anyone know anything about the ER's reputation there?

Also, I know some states are KILLER IMPOSSIBLE to gain a liscense (well, a huge hassle)... did you find this with Nevada? I mean temporary - how long does it take typically? I would be going through endorsement.

Thanks - this website is a new discovery for me and it is a much needed resource.

If you go to the NV State Board of Nursing website, it has everything you need to know about a temporary license. Or call them--they are very nice and helpful on the phone. I hear St. Rose Dominican is one of the best places to work (no personal experience)

I was talking with a nurse hired by St. Rose as a new grad and trained in the ER just as you have been offered. She spoke very well of them and the training she got. As far as a licence its recomended that you fingerprint early because it takes up to four months for them to be processed. I applied for my license by endorsment about 1.5 months ago and got my temporary pretty quickly but have yet to see my permenent.

St. Rose is opening another hospital next month called St Martin. They have a solid reputation of being one of the best places to work for here. Their pay is top of the line too. I did one of my clinicals there this past spring. The only negative experience I had there was my preceptor, so I changed to another nurse.

Do your finger prints as early as possible. I did mine the recommended 4 months in advance. They were returned for "poor quality" and my temporary expired before my next set were processed. I had to have them done digitally. I was told all the scrubbing I'd done over the years had made my prints very fine. I was also told it wasn't uncommon to have to redo prints.

I've also heard that St. Rose is a good place to work here. The Valley Health System has also gotten some good reviews by collegues who said they work hard to have adequate staffing and snap up the agency people before other hospitals can get them.

What is the negative about your preceptor? I am heading to this hospital and this made me apprehensive. Thanks
