Re: NSC Accelerated Nursing Program Fall'08
I graduated from UNR. I think the hardest part was simply time management. There was a test nearly every week, sometimes multiple tests per week, in various classes and there's a lot of material to cover. In nursing school, it isn't about memorization of facts, it's all about critical thinking. You really need to understand the material and how to apply it to succeed. You will probably be presented with test questions where multiple answers may be appropriate, but you need to select the choice that is most correct based upon many factors.
Some things like "safety first", Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, ABCs (Airway, Breathing, Circulation), really help you prioritize when you're trying to select answers on exams.
Funny as it may sound, the people who seemed to struggle the most were those that took nursing school very seriously and seemed to be studying all the time during their off time. Leave some time for yourself and don't forget to enjoy life!
