From what i hear, Renown is pretty short staffed on nurses. You may wanna try them. Good luck !

Are you a new grad?

Northwest Reno - We have safeway , raleys, scolaris, and save mart within a 1.5 mile radius from each other.

There is a Super Walmart also. Robb Drive , Mae Anne Avenue, McCarren Blvd are the major streets that you use to access these stores.

Restaurants - Well what genre of food are you looking for? There are so many.

If you want to find a Trader Joes or Whole Foods, they are located in the south part of Reno.

Best deals on children's clothes. Kohls and ROSS are right next WalMart.

I agree with the suggestions made by Medwynn. Northwest Reno, I believe is a great area to live. I just moved here with my DH (from Phoenix) and we really like the area. Everything (grocery stores) is close by. Two sushi restaurants that were recommended to me were Francis' Asian Bistro and Sushi Moto. Unfortunately, I cannot comment about the food as I have not been there yet. However, I can recommend a very good Italian restaurant named La Vecchia - you've got to try the pumpkin ravioli!

In addition to Renown, you may want to check out Saint Mary's as well. My DH works for Renown, and I work for Saint Mary's. Both have pros and cons (like any hospital). So check out both. If you're up for a 65 mile drive, you may want to check out Banner Churchill Community Hospital in Fallon, NV. I worked for Banner Health in Phoenix and continue to do so on a per diem basis (at Banner Churchill) and love it.

As for kennels, we don't have pets, so I am unable to make a recommendation: however, I did a Google search using my zip in NW Reno, and I did come up with a few kennels. This link should take you to a listing: http://www.thecityofreno.com/kennels/index.html

I hope this helps and good luck on your move!

Ijji Sushi and Sushimoto have been my favorite, but it's been a while. One thing you'll love about sushi in Reno is that it's All You Can Eat for the $15/lunch $20-25/dinner, which I realize now that I live in WA is a steal! I feel so ripped off now paying $5-10/roll up here!

I think Pet Play House does boarding. I had some coworkers that took their dogs there for doggie day care in the daytime and they loved it. I'm not sure if they do long term boarding though.

Micco:

Another website that you might want to try is http://www.city-data.com/forum/ This link should take you to the "forum" page where you can select your state of interest or other category. The Nevada link does happen to have a sub-link for "Reno-Sparks area" I am sure you will find some helpful information there.

Most of the comments on the City-data.com website come from residents. Their comments may be blunt and to-the-point but they are making attempts to give honest opinions. As with opinions, you will even be able to read objections to people's comments/opinions---at times, this can be humorous!

If you don't find a question that pertains to what you are looking for, just join (it is similar to the Allnurses.com site) and submit your own question. You will receive many helpful responses.

Good luck in Reno!!!

Pet Playhouse does do boarding. I board my dog there, and have had nothing but good experiences with them.
