Best suggestion would be to check with the facility directly.

Things are becoming quite tight in the Las Vegas area right now as not as many people are vacationing there, so that means a decrease in everything. You may need to check out more than one locale.

St. Rose hospitals are wonderful!! However, like the previous poster said - the economy is awful right now! Not many places are hiring. However, since you have lots of experience - you probably have a better chance (if you're not picky about what specialty). You should also look into the Southwest part of the valley. There's one huge master planned community you should look into as well - it's called Mountain's Edge. It's beautiful and very family friendly!! They have this AMAZING park within the area (I also have two little girls - 4 1/2 and almost 2). I so wish I lived down there (I'm in the southwest...but a little north of mountains edge). Anyway... good luck with your decision to move!

Try postponing your plan for several months or better yet probably next year, maybe things will perk up next year. Hospital websites aren't really a good reliable source for employment at the moment. Employment season kinda slow right now in NV. Goodluck though.

St Rose Hospital's are some of the finest hospitals in Vegas. I did the majority of my clinical in St Rose hospitals. San Martin is the one I especially enjoyed working at. I did my preceptor in the ED there. Times are tough here in Vegas the economy has hit us pretty hard. I have lived here all my life and I prefer the Northwest side of town. I am currently living in the Centennial Hills area. One positive side to the declining economy is that in Vegas the housing is at record lows. You can get a really nice house here for a low price. September is aways out so things may be different but right now like Suzanne said, it is tough here in Vegas.

I'm from Seattle also and moved here to Vegas in mid-Dec right before the holidays without a job (Can you say stupid idea?)

Due to the economy, it is really difficult everywhere in the US these days. That being said, with enough forethought and planning, you will have no problem securing a hospital job as an RN in Vegas.

But I'll be just as stupid in about 8 months. I'm tired of the area I currently live in so I'll be relocating to "some where" and I'm looking at Nevada, New Mexico (Albuquerque, Sante Fe, Las Cruces), North Carolina (Duke University Hospital, Triangle Parke area (Durham/Raleigh/Chapel Hill area hospitals) Arizona and Texas (Austin, Houston) - (not in any particular order) - after I receive job offers, of course. I hope the economy improves, even a little, by then.

Not sure what you've decided, as I see this was posted in January, but I just wanted to add my 2 cents.
My husband and I live in Henderson (Green Valley area) and we love it. I currently work at St. Rose, and have worked at all 3 campuses: Siena, Rose DeLima, and San Martin. Siena is the closest to me, about 5 minutes away. DeLima is about 10 minutes, in old Henderson. San Martin is a bit farther from me, maybe 15 minutes, but it's a straight shot on the freeway. San Martin is the newest campus, around since a few years ago (I think). Siena is second, and DeLima is the oldest. DeLima has been around a long time. It's an old hospital, but honestly, it is my absolute favorite. I LOVE the people at DeLima. If I can ever find my way back there, I'm going.
What about putting together a resume' and submitting an online application? I know this is no epiphany to you, but I just thought I'd mention it. Maybe give it a few days and call HR to find out the status of your application, or just call the unit manager directly. Some may even let you email your resume' and some may do a telephone interview.
I like the St. Rose system. I've worked per diem at Spring Valley hospital, which is in the Valley health system. I thought that facility was nice, with nice people. I've also worked at UMC. Now UMC is old, and is a county hospital. The unit that I worked on was insanely busy, and pt acuity was high. But, I must say, the people there were so welcoming and helpful. The nurse's aides were amazing. The staff would have these potluck dinners and on my first night, they were adamant that I stop fiddling with my charts, and come and eat with them. I loved both charge nurses that I worked with. It just seemed like a very family oriented unit. Of course, I was on nightshift, so this may play a role. But I also had a good rapport with the dayshift staff. You always have a few hags, but for the most part, it was a nice experience.

I applied for a couple permanent IMC jobs at St Rose over a week ago through CHW's website and have heard nothing. It is so frustrating that no one is hiring around here.
