Moving to Henderson in June 2006 HELP:)

I've just been accepted into the nursing program here in Michigan and I start my clinicals in January 2006. I'm very nervous about the decisions I must make soon. I'm debating on starting the first round of clinicals in January in hopes that CCSN has advanced standing. I've waited three years to get this acceptance letter. The waiting list is horrific at Mott Community College. I'm hoping if I am put on a waiting list at CCSN hopefully it won't be long From what I understand you guys have a point system. That could help as I have an associates in medical assisting and have worked in many different clinics. I also have all of my pre-reqs done. IF CCSN won't allow Nurs. 105 to transfer than I would have spent more money than I can actually afford. My husband thinks going through the first round of clinicals twice would be to my advantage and that may be something I'll end up doing, but... would any sane person go through Nurs 105 twice? The stress alone...

I guess I'm just confused. Should I wait to start my clinicals in NV or better yet, does anyone know if Nursing 105 is transferrable? I'm sending in my application tomorrow and requesting that all transcripts be sent out, but it's a long process and I'm just very nervous about having to make my decision right away. I'd like some time to ponder I'm taking the NET November 1st and I'm also nervous about that. I'm horrible with math Study, study, study... I know. Any advice or helpful tips would be greatly appreciated.

Also, it's been four years since my Anatomy and Physiology classes d/t the waiting list. Will that affect me in any way re: clinicals? It's amazing how easy you lose the info if you don't use it. I still have my books, so I can skim through those too. I'm new here sorry for the long entry. Glad I found this forum though.

Lightbulb Hi Sonja, from Twinkie (:
Okay Sonja I am here to help you come up with a solution.
Let me see if I have all the facts straight.
1.You have waited 3 long years to be accepted into the Mott Community College.
2.Acceptance letter has been given to you for the Mott (ADN) program.
3.Why are you taking the Net in Nov. but you are already accepted into the program?
4.You start the Mott program in Jan.
5. How long is the Mott ADN program? Will you be done with the first semester by June?
6. Do you know if CCSN will accept the transfer of credits?
7. Have you taken Pharmacology? Will the credit transfer?
8. Is there a major cost difference in schools?
9. Do you have family that you can stay with while you are in the Mott community program?
Here is my advice for you.. you have waited a long time to start the program at Mott Community College. So do whatever needs to be done and start the program in Jan! You have worked hard and you deserve to be in the program so don't wait just do it!! Once you get started everything will fall into place. Don't be afraid to take a chance you can do it!
Best Wishes,

Hi Twinkie

I received my acceptance letter and also received another letter stating that I must take and pass the Net in order to start my clinicals. If I don't pass, I will need to retake it at my own expense. MCC states that if I don't pass the test before my clinicals start in January than I will have to forfeit my place in the program. Meaning I would be called back in next fall assuming I have taken the test and passed.
I will be done with the first semester in May.
I am in the process of transferring my credits from Baker and Mott College.
CCSN is actually about $40 cheaper than MCC
I haven't taken Pharmacology yet. It's a co-requisite and although they don't reccomend it, I can take it along with my clinicals.
I live near the college right now and we are just waiting to sell our house. We will stay with my mom until we move in June. As long as our house sells. I'm still talking with my advisor and when I hear from CCSN I think I'll have all the info I'll need to make my decision. Thanks for responding. I can't wait to start my clinicals
