Looking to move to Reno area

Washoe Medical Center and St. Mary's are the main players in town. Rumors are that Mary's is having serious fiscal problems and their census is not good. Also rumor has it that they are making bone-headed attempts to computerize absolutely everything and not doing a good job of it.

Washoe is growing. They opened a new facility in the South part of town and it gets pretty much rave reviews from patients. (Though it is not full service yet. Lots of things still only offered at the Main facility.)

Word of advice about HR if you're going to apply at Washoe. Some people have complained that they apply and then never hear back. Or they hear back and then the HR dept. goes silent for a long time. It may not happen to you. But if you aren't hearing from them, you just have to keep calling them. Squeaky wheel gets the grease.

I love Reno. Great stuff to do year round and it is gorgeous here. No state income taxes. Homes are getting pricey... but that's happening all over.
