Re: Kaplan College New LPN program
Here is some more info on Kaplan
Yes it is accredited. So if you move out of state you are still good- assuming you pass the NCLEX. However, it is not a bridge program so if you plan on going to RN with your LPN - Kaplan isnt a good choice- they hopefully will open the bridge next year if they have high enough pass rates- but I know that some schools take a few years to get to that point.
The program cost $25k
The enterance exams are free- you first take a critical thinking test. When I took mine we had 25 people taking it and only 2 of us passed.
Then you take the HESI - which I thought was extremely easy. But I have already taken college English and LPN Math class. It covers reading comprension, vocabulary, and math skills like fractions - military time conversions - percentages - etc. The day I tested 20 people took it - 3 people passed the first time. They give you 2 chances and you can buy the study book for $25. I dont know how they did the 2nd round. A 70% is considered passing.
They accept students on a 9 pt scale
4pts for the Hesi results
1 pt for health care experience such as a CNA credential or MA credential or health care work experience. They do not consider volunteer work. : (
They also give you 1 pt for each college class you have taken in these catagories:
English 101 and higher
Math Algebra (they do not take Math 100B from CSN)
Biology 189 and higher
Psycology 101 and higher
Each will earn 1 pt
I have been trying to find reviews on this school - but so far I am not finding much- since the LPN program is only 1 year old now.
