Facility taught
When I went to LPN school only basic IV site care/dressings were taught. It was left up to the facility to teach to new nurses, LPN or RN, to stick for IV's. I understand it is still that way in lots of places. Have you talked with any specific facility about training you for IV's? You spend a few hours in a class, practice on dummy arms, go around with the nurse for a few hours, and then you have to do 10 sticks here. They gave us 10 days to finish all of ours. I did mine in 3 days, I told every nurse on the floor to call me for an IV stick if it was going to be fairly easy, they did and I was done quickly. It does take a little while to learn some tricks, but you will do fine.
