I am going to start school in the summer for my pre-req. at UNLV but it's been almost 8 years since I last attended school. I have a degree in Accounting earned in the Philippines 8 yrs. ago, a mother of 18-month old and a stay-home-Mom. I am nervous and don't know what to expect. Please help
Thanks...

Congratulations on your decision! UNLV is an excellent school and my alma mater! What to expect: hummmm... lots of classes, many students, teachers you may or may not like and loads of learning experiences with the future of becoming a nurse!
Just to give you my 2c....
Have you thought about applying to Nevada State College? They have a wonderful nursing program that keeps growing every year. I think the cut off for application is coming up soon. If you already have a bachelors degree they have a wonderful accelerated nursing program. You just need to meet the prerequisites in order to apply for their program. It can be competitive, but I really like the personalization and encouragement to succeed. It's been my experience that many programs are only there to weed out the academically struggling students instead of assisting them in achieving their goals. I really like this about NSC.
good luck!

Oh yeah, BTW: we have several Filipino students in our program are going to make excellent nurses one day soon!
