Its so nerve racking!
I heard there are 120 positions open. Half is for the reinstatements and the other are for new applicants. Does anyone know if there's any thruth to this?
8 weeks to go.... I hope we get in Vegas2009.

Oops, I posted in the Nevada nurses but I live in Hawaii. Oh well, goodluck to everyone! You guys have 120 seats? WOW! Our program only has 30, but I'm sure you guys have a lot more applicants. We have a little over 200 applicants each semester. And in Hawaii, there is no nursing shortage anymore....sigh. Hawaii rarely opens new grad programs up in the local hospitals. Looks like I'll need to work from the bottom up. Luckily our program trains us for the state requirements. After the first semester you can sit for the CNA license, then after 1 year and a summer you can sit for the LPN exam. I guess I have to get in first though, to start making any kinds of plans for that...

Registered Nut. Don't buy into rumors. They will drive you crazy listen to an experienced applicant of this madness. The dead line has come and gone in a week go ask limited entry how many apps were received they will tell you. There nice in there. But ask the limited entry lady not her assistant. the assistant will tell you some astronomical number not even close to the actual. Then base your odds on your current points situation. Have a glass of wine if your old enough and try to patiently wait. When that day does come that you get that phone call it is like winning the lottery. I saved the voice mail and listened to it at least 30 times.

I wish all the luck that was given to me getting in I hope goes to you because I was lucky.

Hey Registered Nut, I had to go back to that ofc twice and I saw the pile. It wasn't much at all compared to the pile last fall of 2008 (I went w/ a friend when she turned in her applica.) At that time, I thought geez! The pile was sooo thick, there is NO way I'm getting in. I wasn't qualified to apply anyway. This time is different for some reason, don't worry, we'll get in. The pile I saw was promising to us. There can't be that many reinstatements or new applicants for next semester, I mean nursing doesn't guarantee jobs anymore. It looks like it's gonna be that way for A WHILE.

[quote=mia70;3837421]Yes, Yes, and yes, we did the lottery thing. Write down the group # cuz that is what you will "bid" on when your number is called up. Food is smart since you are there all day long!

Thanks for extra info mia70. Have a few questions though. How long was the wait between the, "you've been accepted" call and the actual orientation day? was it few weeks, months? Do you get to pick ur advisor? So when u sign up for the option #, u can't change it anymore right?

No you can't pick your advisor, your advisor will be listed on your packet that they give you after you've been accepted. and that's right, there is no changing your option # after it's been picked so I hope your schedule is pretty flexible. I think the first orientation day was just a couple of weeks after the first phone call, yeah it was in November.

Application deadline was March 1st 2008. Notification of acceptance was in last few days of April. The first orientation was first week of May. Two more orientations on Aug 6, and advisor meeting Aug 27th. NO OPTIONS. Attendance at all three were mandatory. Do not make any plans for Christmas break. They did not give us a chance to go away for summer so save yourself the grief and do not bother. THere is no reschedule poss. Wear shorts and a t-shirt as they still have not figured out how to use the AC in bld K auditorium. Have fun!
