There is one that is probably one of the few ones at CSN that is going to make you sweat when you take 189, but it will be very rewarding when you take the rest of the Bio courses. Have something in mind, how well you do or how poorly it's entrirely up to you. An hour lecture is equal to 2 hours of study at home. Believe me, I took 189 from him and I worked really hard with him, but you have no idea how thankful i was afterwards when i took the rest of BIO courses. Also remember!the fact that he makes you work so hard is good, because it teaches you alot of discipline and if you wanna become a nurse... you are going to need a lot of that.
Good luck

Okay...here is an HONEST answer to your question. Don't listen to some of the people in here. Bio 189 is a tough class. I took it 3 times before I passed. My other friends took it 2 times as well. Out of all the classes that I took for pre-nursing it was the hardest.

We put together a study group and also had some help through the Department of Retention on campus. They were really really helpful! The class always starts out big and ends up small. There are a limited number of seats in all the programs so they weed people out. Just DON'T GIVE UP! If I can do it so can you!!!

I have to reply to this....

I took my Bio189 at CSN and it was THE HARDEST CLASS I have EVER taken. There were 45 people on the first day of class, not even enough desks for everybody, and on the day of the final... I was 1 OF 8 students remaining! I don't think this thread is talking about my teacher cause everyone is saying "he", and my professor was female. I studied my BUTT off and squeaked by with a C. No joke. I studied and studied and studied and when the test came, I felt like I was on another planet reading a foreign language... she literally encouraged students to drop, and was out to put a C on your transcript no matter what. I could not, for the life of me, score higher than a 67% on the exams... every exam... 67, 67, 67... if I hadn't had lab (25% of your overall grade) with another instructor, I would have failed for sure. I would go to her office for questions on my exams, and she would only say, "Well you should have known that." It was awful...
