505girl - follow up question

Hi 505girl - Hope you're still liking things at work. I was wondering - do you have opportunities to work overtime? If so, how often and how much will do they allow? Is it frowned upon, or are you thanked for offering?

I still love, love Mountainview! I am off of orientation now...and there is like unlimited overtime!!!!! I am working 5-6 twelve hours shifts, each week, for the next several weeks! Yes that is 60-72 hours a week. Not only do I get overtime, but also a $100 bonus for each extra 12 hour shift picked up per week. I am working nights now...and those 12 hours fly by so fast. I totally love having the oppurtunity to work overtime and gain experience AND get my routine/time management down. I am "staying safe" by going, basically, straight to bed, each night and getting a solid 8 to 8 1/2 hours of sleep. I bought a bunch of groceries to last like a month ahead of time. (Which I would highly recommend for anyone to do , due to the Katrina disaster) So...I am totally thanked for offering...because that means that a temporary nurse does not have to come in for that shift...

Awesome news! Now, come May, can you put a good word in for me? ;0)

Thanks for the update, and very happy that things are working out for you. It's good to see someone happy on these boards - I read way too much negativity in other posts.

I'll try to put a good word in for you...lol. Heck, who knows, maybe I could be your preceptor at that point! My preceptor had only been a nurse like 18 months. So, she was kind of still a "new grad"....keep in touch

Ok - 3 weeks later. Time to check on 505girl's sanity. How are you doing out there? Still working all of those hours?

Still working lots of hours; I have had two super crazy nights (still 6 patients though)--but I still love the staff and the work setting.
