Can anyone tell me about salt washing?

are you talking about siadh?????????or are you referring to utilizing 3%nacl????????
No, pardon me. I used the wrong term, as I just (fianally found) in a google search. I meant salt wasting, as in cerebral salt wasting. I found out that it is hyponatremia usually with hypovolemia instead of the dilutional hyponatremia you see with SIADH. It comes from naturesis possibly from the release of naturetic peptides in the brain. Common in SAH. Treatment is fluid and salt replacment. (this is why it is important to differentiate between cerebral salt wasting and SIADH as the treatment is opposite). It took me awhile to find my own answer. Sorry for taking up your time.

there actually was an excellent article in one of the october-november 2005( i believe that was when it was give/take a month or so) that should provide some great info also.i actually clipped the article and have it in one of my files. if you can not archive it from nursing 2005 pm me and i will locate it in my files and forward it to you.
