Hi Ladybird! Welcome to neuro nursing. When I started in neuro I bought a textbook by Joanne Hickey called Clinical Practice of Neuroscience Nursing and I started reading. There is so much to learn so give yourself time to take it all in. If you want to get your feet wet before you start, try to study the different lobes of the brain and what each lobe is responsible for. Then I would dive into the cranial nerves and their pathways. Aneurysms are a big topic and so are brain tumors. Like I said, to narrow it down is impossible so just jump in. Good luck!

I am a new grad and I just landed a job in our neuro ICU. I am nervous/scared/excited. I am going to be going through a six month orientation/training program, but it still makes me nervous. Good luck!

nursing is a lot facts that we cannot do anything about without a doctor. basically, a nure can't treat a high grade fever unless the doctor orders the tylenol. Don't get wrapped up in neuro. Get wrapped up in basic nursing obligations and responsibilties. Like maintaining clean technique when no one is in the room when you contaminate the dressing.
