New Grad interested in ICU, which floor to get me there

Hi,

I did my final consolidation in a Med-Surg ICU, in a large hospital. I then left to a smaller hospital, to work closer to my home, which was a big mistake as I couldn't get a job in ICU since the small community hospital didn't feel I had enough experience, being a new grad. I ended up working a temp. fulltime position on a surgery floor, and I then did a four month maternity leave cover on a medical floor (with telemetry,) and now I am getting laid off soon. So I've been a nurse for a year, and I am heading back to the city, to try and get back into ICU. Right now they are not hiring, but I do have an interview for a Neurology floor. I am thinking this may be a good stepping stone, since we did get alot of head injuries in ICU. Any suggestions? Has anyone else had alot of difficulty getting full-time as a new grad?
