Neuro ICU to Trauma Neuro ICU

Hi guys!!! I am a nurse who has worked in the Neuro ICU for 2 years. It is not a trauma ICU but we do get a lot of strokes, bleeds, SAHs, crani's, licoxx, camino's, EVD's, etc. We get a lot of really sick/challenging patients. I was interested in taking my first travel assignment but it would be to a Neuro Trauma ICU. Do you think the transition would be too much for me? I dont think it would. It sounds interesting from the interview and I know I am a fast learner. I just wanted to see what other people thought. Thanks for your input!!

I am a travel nurse and had the same reservations. I haven't had any problem with the transition. You will love it.

i can tell you if you choose to do a travel assignment to a neuro trauma icu you shouldn't have a problem. at least in my unit and other icus in my hospital, the travelers get the borders and the easier patients anyway. you will not be getting the sickest patients in the unit by any means.
