Nebraska Hospitals

by dmskoka

Hello ,
I have been accepted into Creighton's ASBN program for the fall. I was wondering if anyone could comment on the hiring climate right now for new nurses in Nebraska. I am currently in Ca. and have been accepted into a school here as well. I also have an interview in Arizona.. It seems that in Ca. and Arizona it is really hard for new grads to get jobs right now.. For example 800 applications for 15 spots.. Any info at all would be appreciated.
Thanks

I don't know a whole lot, but from when I've talked to my admissions advisor, they have told me that in NE most all nursing students will have job offers before or by the time they graduate.. Not sure if that helps or not!

I work at one of the hospitals, and they hire new grads all the time. I know you get offers before you graduate a lot of times as well. Hope that helps.

Right now I'm at SCC looking to transfer to Bryan School of Nursing. The people I spoke with were at Bryan. It seems to be a bit more costly for their BSN program, but I think its worth it for all the clinical experience and hands on training that is offered.

Bryan does have a very good program. In fact, if I still lived in Lincoln, I would apply there. I started too 7 or 8 years ago, and then my world kinda fell apart. I hoe it works out well for you Karla!

All, thanks for this info! I am also starting an accelerated program this fall and am worried about getting a job when I'm finished (which I will need with all the loans I'm taking out!). If anyone has more information on how difficult it is to get jobs in the Lincoln/Omaha area it would be much appreciated!

Regional West in Scottsbluff, NE hires new grads and is a pretty darn good hospital. Don't know much about CA except the situation varies incredibly by location all over the state. AZ is tough right now, a friend with 7 years experiance had a tough go before landing a job in Phx. Flagstaff is even tougher.
