What books are best for content when studying for the NCLEX RN?

    Hi There,

Well I am done with feeling down about not passing NCLEX (again!) and ready to start studying again. Does anyone know of which book to read that has the best amount for content? Also where can I practice the best questions that will help me prepare for NCLEX next time? Thank you everyone here always gives the best advice and support!

Read Saunders 5th edition and follow it up with Hurst review to help you remember what you read on Saunders.

    Good luck!

How about for questions? Which resource has the best, most NCLEX-like questions? I am having a hard time finding reosurces that do SATA questions, most books just have multiple choice that I have read. Thank you for the help!

I have Saunder's 5th Edition Q&A review. So far, it has lots of SATA questions in it. I realize how much I suck at SATA question.

Saunder's comprehensive 5th ed! Just stick to one author so you wont be confused

I think that NCLEX RN is more on critical thinking, and not on content. saunder's 5th is great for content. but I am using the Kaplan 2012 right now. it helps you to think critically, with all the strategies and stuff. use also PDA by lacharity since nlcex is more on prioritization as well. when are you planning to take your exam?

I don't know when I'm taking it again. I have taken it 3 times and I'm just so tired of this . But I will try it again. Is Kaplan 2012 a book or questions? Also I was thinking about doing the NCLEX-PN (which is weird because I have a BSN) to see if I do better at that. Have any RN students taken the LPN test before? I just want to be a nurse and I work as a tech with all these new grad nurses that make me feel bad. I have been reading the Saunders 5th edition but I'm worried it might not be enough for the new, more complicated NCLEX. I don't understand how some nurses don't study and pass and then there are people like me who work really hard and fail. And I can't use my degree for anything unless I have a license.

sorry to hear that. do you already know your area of weaknesses? like application/analysis, content, integration process? if so, you could focus on those weakness, i should say try more on practice questions, whatever company you prefer to. you can try Saunders (content), Kaplan ( Client need), and PDA by Lacharity ( Integration process). i think those 3 are the power team.

If you need content I would highly recommend Hurst. Their content starts with the basics and builds from there. It is easy to understand. I bought it after taking Kaplan and hating their content videos. I took my exam today after preparing for 2 weeks after graduating and passed with 75 questions. Best of luck!
