Ive been reading alot of the threads on here and it seems to be different in each one. Ive been using the lippincott, williams and wilkins "nclex made easy" cd rom and getting 70-80% on the practice tests, yet I just failed my nclex?? I dont get it!!!

There really is no "actual" passing score for NCLEX. All you can do is practice as many questions as you can. Sorry to hear you didn't pass this time. I wish you all the best.

In addition to all the knowledge and critical thinking skills that you now have and need to use to pass the NCLEX, you also need to know the test taking strategies that will improve your chances of getting the answer right. Kaplan offers such a strategic system. One strategy, for priority questions, goes like this: out of the four answers to choose from, eliminate the answer that describes the patient who is the most stable. Then, out of those three answers to choose from, eliminate the answer that describes the patient who is the most stable. Then, out of the remaining two answers, use ABCs to decide which patient is the most critical. Your priority answer would be the patient who is the most critical. Hope that helps. Ruth

p.s. The actual pass score for nclex is if your 50% correctly answered questions is above the national standard for safe nursing care provided by a registered or practicing nurse, whichever test you are taking. At least, I know that is how it works for RN, not sure about LPN/LVN.

i finished the test at 265 and it was all about meds it was really hard. i thought im gonna stop at 75 coz at the first 75 items, i already had 5 select all that apply and 2 computations and loads of meds and prioritizations. but i continued upto the last item.the last item though was tricky and i got so tired so i just clicked my first hunch just to end the test (it was really draining).all of my computations needs alot of conversions and it was time consuming.i got loads of prioritization which tackled almost all MS. few ob-pedia and psych. i got some delegations too and few code for nursing.i got tons of infectious too.i can't really tell if i did good but i did my best and followed the strategies of KAPLAN (i hope it works). i really did not expect that my exam will take me upto the very end.

is there anyone you know who passed the NCLEX-RN exam who finished the test at 265?i really didnt want to get that far but i did.now im worried about the chances of passing or failing. hope someone could holler about this. thanks! (im still hopeful and praying that i will pass the nclex at first try).

we had the same types of questions during the exams. you did good i should say... they pop up when you're above level...

i thought i didn't make it but i did!!! but mine's 75 maybe it still applies to 265q too.

but don't lose hope... pray for it and believe in God...

You see so many posts with test-takers who have no idea as to whether they passed the NCLEX, because this examination is designed so that the vast majority of students answer only 50 percent of the questions correctly. This test works like a balancing beam: if you answer questions correctly, the computer throws progressively harder questions right back at you. If you miss questions, the computer spits out questions that it deems to be 'easy.' Therefore, very few people leave the test center feeling absolutely certain that they passed.

Both the passers and the flunkers typically answer only 50 percent of the questions correctly, but the main difference lies in the types of questions answered. Those who pass NCLEX answered more "higher level" questions correctly than those who failed.

thanks!! i really do hope i will make it. i got TONS AND TONS of pharma plus prioritizations. i really didnt expect for the pharma.tho some of the meds are familiar,the computer does find a way to make the question hard and confusing!i wasnt really confident answering. i hope and pray id pass tho.i thought at first i know the meds while reading on the question..but when i look at the choices, what i know wasnt there!i really need to think deep first before i cud answer and relate why the computer asked those for choices.i hope for the best. thanks again!!

Many passed at 265 as far as I remember I am one. Good luck

i still have to wait 4-6 weeks for the result and that makes me more anxious. it's crazier to wait than to prepare. i hope for the best and i also do pray for those who are about to take the test and also to those who are also waiting like me. God speed!!!
